I booked my flight a little differently this time. There was this new airline called Ebonics Airways and they were so cheap I couldn’t pass it up. *giggle* I love’s me some Shirley! (I’ll be driving right thru big Beaumont too!)

Seriously though, I’m looking forward to the trip. I’ll spend a few days in Houston visiting friends and the rest w/my brother. I can tell he is looking forward to it as well. He seems very happy that we are talking so much again. I didn’t realize how much I missed him I guess.

Death, itself, has been everpresent in my own life. I lost my mother at 7, my first love at 18, my grandmother at 26, a dear friend at 30, and most recently my father at 34. These are by no means the only losses in my life but the most significant. Even as a kid I saw death differently. I wondered why people were so sad if they really believed the dead were in a better place. When my mom died, I kept asking everyone when we could go visit her. Oh don’t get me wrong, I know if I lost Bobby or Trevan I’d be a mess. I’d bawl like a baby for awhile, you betcha. But afterwoods, I’d know they were still out there. I wouldn’t see them anymore but I’d carry the knowledge of their continued existence w/me thru my own life along w/my memories of them.

And as cheesy as it sounds, this song by Celine Dion always seems to cheer me up. So, listen if you want and take a moment to reflect on all the people you’ve lost in your life. Be thankful for what they brought you in this life and that you are blessed enough to still be here.

So, I’m sitting here in my towel blogging away and waiting for the Safeway delivery guy to show up. I forgot I scheduled my groceries to be delivered today. Of course, I scheduled the delivery the same time as my meeting at work. (I can be such a dunce sometimes). I called to see if he could be here early but no luck.

And speaking of class, it’s off to a great start. As expected there is a lot of reading and work I’m required to do on my own. We lost two people mid-day yesterday. No loss, as all they did was yack during class. It’s hard as hell to listen when someone is yacking incessantly in the background. I have a feeling we’ll lose a few more by next week. Yesterday was the first day we really got into the material and the instructor made a point of showing some of the negative sides of the job.
